Who We Are - BEL Asia
The pulse of Sydney, Australia beats strongly as a center for innovation, and a dynamic "intelligent community". Sitting at the cross roads of Singapore, China, Southeast Asia, India and New Zealand, it makes for a terrific gathering place of those involved in media, mobile, television and screen art - as well as banking, industry and high-tech sectors.
Australia is the sixth largest country by total area. For at least 40,000 years before European settlement in the late 18th century, Australia was inhabited by indigenous Australians, who belonged to one or more of roughly 250 language groups. A highly developed country, Australia is the world's thirteenth largest economy and has the world's seventh-highest per capita income. Australia has six states and two major mainland territories.
Sydney is the largest and most populous city in Australia. It is the state capital of New South Wales. Sydney is located on Australia's south-east coast of the Tasman Sea. The city is built on hills surrounding Port Jackson which is commonly known as Sydney Harbour, where the iconic Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge feature prominently. Sydney provides approximately 25 percent of the country's total GDP. In 2010, Sydney was ranked 7th in Asia for economic innovation in the Innovation Cities Top 100 Index.
